What next for the blue mark?
Sudan ceasefire agreed
Twitter has had a rollercoaster ride since Musk’s takeover. The latest is the war over the blue mark. Musk wanted $8 for the mark; a key revenue source for his debt-fueled takeover. Now, the big guys are rebelling. Organizations like the New York Times and celebrities like Lebron have refused to pay the $8 bill. First, Musk ordered the blue marks removed. Then, he ordered them returned, with some of those affected openly saying they no longer wanted it. Looks like Twitter’s revenue projections need a pivot. Would you pay $8 for the mark?
A more serious war is ongoing in Sudan. Hundreds have lost their lives and thousands of expats, including Nigerians, remain trapped. The US successfully brokered a 3-day ceasefire to enable people to leave to neighboring countries. We’ll see if the deal holds.
